What type of slip ring is most commonly used in construction machinery such as excavators?

Excavators are one of the most common types of construction machinery. As a large construction device whose body and chassis can rotate relatively infinitely, it also requires the support of slip rings. The most common slip ring on excavators is the pneumatic-hydraulic slip ring. These slip rings are mounted on the chassis and are often used in conjunction with the excavator's hydraulic piston pump to facilitate the transmission of high-pressure hydraulic fluid during the excavator's rotation. To enable the transmission of high-pressure hydraulic oil, these pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings are generally made of stainless steel to ensure strength. Depending on the power or tonnage, the gas size and number of passages in the pneumatic-hydraulic slip ring vary slightly.

JINPAT Electronics, as a professional slip ring manufacturer, has an experienced team of construction machinery slip ring designers and possesses the capability to develop pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings for excavators. For excavators, pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings can be installed not only on the excavator itself but also in other locations. However, this is limited to special excavator variants where the bucket is replaced with other functional equipment, such as grab bucket excavators and some special machinery using such fully rotating chassis. These machines, where the chassis and body can rotate relative to each other, generally have hydraulic piston pumps and pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings.

As everyone knows, modern excavators are hydraulically driven, so high-pressure resistant pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings are used to solve the problem of high-pressure hydraulic fluid transmission. Some manufacturers also install electric slip rings on the chassis of their excavator models, but these are generally installed on mini or small excavators. Jingpei Electronics has also developed several models of electric slip rings for these mini excavators. To adapt to the excavator's operating environment, they feature an anti-vibration structure design internally, and the outer shell material is basically the same as that of excavator pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings—high-strength steel. In addition to the above examples, Jingpei Electronics has also developed integrated pneumatic-hydraulic-electric slip rings for this type of machinery.

With increasingly stringent global emission regulations, the trend of electrification will inevitably sweep through the construction machinery industry. Under this trend, in addition to pneumatic-hydraulic slip rings for transmitting hydraulic oil, pneumatic-hydraulic-electric integrated slip rings and high-current integrated slip rings are also likely to gain a certain market share. This is because some manufacturers will choose to use an external power source instead of a diesel engine to drive the equipment on excavators. This technical approach involves integrating an armored cable reel into the construction machinery, with the slip ring integrated as a component within the reel to support the transmission of current during the movement of the construction machinery.
